COVID-19 Vaccinations

At Gardens Medical Group, we are committed to providing the latest information about the COVID-19 vaccination. The vaccine is available for free to all Australians, and it is up to you whether or not you have the vaccination. The vaccination is given as a needle in your arm, and you will need to have two vaccinations on different days. Both vaccinations must be from the same brand. The person giving you your vaccination will tell you when you need to have the second vaccination. We stock all primary COVID-19 vaccinations, including:

Pfizer

AstraZeneca

Moderna

Novavax

Medical experts have studied COVID-19 vaccines to make sure they are safe. Most side effects are mild. As with any vaccine or medicine, there may be rare and/or unknown side effects. Gardens Medical Group takes pride in being a hub of immunisations and health care, and we are here to answer any questions you may have about the COVID-19 vaccination.

COVID-19 Vaccination Side Affects

It’s important to get vaccinated to help protect yourself, your family, and your community from COVID-19. You can tell your healthcare provider if you have any side effects like:

A sore arm

Headache

Fever

Or any other side effect you are worried about.

Some people may still get COVID-19 after vaccination. So, you must still follow public health precautions as required in your state or territory to stop the spread of COVID-19, including: keeping your distance - stay at least 1.5 meters away from other people, wash your hands often with soap and water, or use hand sanitiser, wear a mask, if your state or territory has advised that you should, stay home if you are unwell with cold and flu-like symptoms and arrange to get a COVID-19 test.

Your COVID-19 Vaccination Requirements

We are proud to offer a COVID-19 vaccination hub where you can receive your immunisations. All of our vaccination providers record all vaccinations on the Australian Immunisation Register, as required by Australian law. You can view your vaccination record online through your Medicare account, MyGov account, or My Health Record account. Before your vaccination appointment, you should ensure your details are up to date with Medicare. If you don’t have your account set up, you can enrol in Medicare if you’re not already enrolled. You can also set up your Medicare online account if you’re enrolled in Medicare but don’t have Medicare linked to MyGov. If you’re not eligible for Medicare, you can get an Individual Health Identifier (IHI).

Flu Vaccinations

We will be running flu vaccine clinics during the flu season to ensure that our patients are immunised against the flu. Our team of registrars, GPs, and nurses are highly trained and experienced in administering vaccinations. For patients ineligible for a National Immunisation Program (NIP) vaccine will have an out of pocket cost for the vaccine. Alternatively, you can book an appointment to see your usual doctor at Gardens Medical Group. Our surgery is a hub for immunisations, and we offer a wide range of health care services.

Immunisations

At our practice, we are a vaccine hub that provides immunisations and vaccinations for all stages of life. We offer a full range of childhood, adult, and travel vaccinations, keeping up-to-date with the latest information on overseas vaccination requirements.

Our travel vaccinations are not claimable from Medicare, but we aim to make them as affordable as possible. We understand the importance of vaccinations and their vital role in protecting our community from disease. Please call the surgery for your Q-Fever Vaccination. Travel and non-childhood vaccinations are not claimable from Medicare. If you are in a private health fund, you may be able to claim depending on the level of your insurance.

Please contact our reception staff for the costs of required vaccinations.
